There is a wide acceptance of the chiropractic profession nationwide, and it is used to provide a variety of healthcare services. Among these are Veterans Affairs Medical Clinics, federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics, and other multidisciplinary clinics. It is common for them to work in conjunction with other healthcare providers, such as physical therapists and physicians, to provide comprehensive care to their patients. As a result of their ability to treat pain as well as musculoskeletal conditions in a safe and effective manner, Doctors of Chiropractic have become an integral part of the healthcare system.
The national center for complementary and integrative health defines “Chiropractic” as: a licensed health care profession that emphasizes the body’s ability to heal itself. In the portion of that same article under “What do Chiropractors do” it states: “Chiropractors approach patient care in a manner similar to that used in conventional medicine. They interview the patient, obtain a detailed health history, perform an examination, do tests, and develop a working diagnosis. They then develop a management plan, start treatment, and monitor the patient’s progress.”
