Can an adjustment from your chiropractor make you taller?

As a joke, chiropractic doctors like to tell their patients that if their chiropractors give them an adjustment, they will be able to grow taller as a result. In order to assess the validity of this claim, we have to ask: Is there any truth to it?

To begin with, let’s take a look at what determines a person’s height in the first place. Height can be determined by a number of factors, one of which is genetics, which is the most important factor. In Life Science, it is stated that there are times in which certain hardships in life can have a detrimental effect on your ability to reach your genetic potential for height. It is also possible that poor nutrition can be a contributing factor.

A blog from the Hendrick Wellness Center stated it well, “While spinal adjustments won’t magically make you taller, they have been proven to straighten out and stretch the spine, making you appear anywhere from 1 to 2 inches taller than you were before the alignment.” As a consequence, it may also be able to improve your posture as well as your general health. If you suffer from back pain due to poor posture, this is important to note. Spinal adjustments can help to alleviate this pain and improve the overall posture of the individual.
